Trip home

I took a trip to see my parents over a long weekend, and had a great time. I got to spend a bunch of time with my dad helping him out on a couple of things. I also got to spend some time hanging out with a couple of really cool people from high school that I haven’t been able to. On the way back up, I got bored sitting through all the construction, so while I was waiting a prepped my camera and was able to snag a few shots like this one:

Driver's Door

Never give a bored man a camera, he’ll do stupid things.

Swimming in the Portage

Peter, Kevin, Christian, Matthew and I went out to the beach at Chutes and Ladders tonight to cool down after the insanely hot weather today (80F). Of course, I had my camera along, so I snapped a picture of the sun setting behind Hancock.

Hungarian Falls

Middle Falls

A friend from home came up to visit for the weekend, so on Saturday, we headed out to visit Hungarian Falls (Local mirror) It hadn’t rained recently (though it did that night) and the snow load has long since melted so the water wasn’t much more than a trickle. It was still really nice though.

After that, Sarah (my friend from back home), Kevin and I headed out to Breakers and then downtown Houghton by the old train station for a barbeque in the (semi)-rain.

Breakers

Kevin and I headed out to Breakers last night to confirm or deny the rumour that it is closed. Well… how about we just say it is partially closed.

The access road that leads to the parking lot is closed, but none of the other trails that lead there are blocked off. What does this mean? The bonfire tomorrow night at Breakers is on. If you’re in the area and want to go, Kevin and I are heading out shortly after 6pm. (If you need directions, send me an email at: aragirn [at] aragirn.net.)

Anyways, here are some pictures that I took (and a couple that Kevin took) last night. The pictures are mirrored here and here.

MTU’s Campus in the Spring

Library

So today, in order to prove that green things do grow in Houghton, went on a picture taking tour of part of campus. I was getting hungry, so I didn’t make it everywhere.

If you want to check out more pictures, check them out at: this page.

Alternatively, you can look at them on my flickr page or my gallery.

This is going to be a long weekend, and since I have little to do, and less money to do it on, I’ll probably be going to a few other places in the area on excursions, and I’ll be bringing my camera along for the ride.
