Carnie Photo Blog

I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves for the most part (sorry the page will take so long to load Mom and Dad).

The theme this year was, “Cartoon Art for the Young at Heart.”

You can find all the pictures I took on flickr.

Winter Carnival

Well, Winter Carnival is again upon those of us at MTU. A 4 day weekend of celebration! Or as many of us end up utilizing the time: extra time to catch up on homework.

I took some pictures of the statues tonight when I went to campus, however I’m going to go back and see if I can get some better shots. I’ll post a few once I’m done taking them.

LUG Install-a-thon

The MTU LUG had it’s biannual install-a-thon this past Saturday. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a very large turnout. We did get Linux installed on a couple of people’s computers, though we ran into problems with the Suse installer.

Oh well, here’s hoping the next one in the fall, accompanied by the normal number of presentations will generate some more interest.

Hungarian Falls

Yesterday, Rae, Whitney and I headed out to Hungarian Falls. Our initial plans involved snowshoeing ou there, but a precipitous rise in temperature (it rose above 50) forced us to simply dig out our boots.

It was a fun trip, we attempted to find the trail to the bottom of the lower falls, but couldn’t locate it (none of us had ever gone that way before) so we headed back to the trail that would take us to the top of the lower falls. After moving to the side of the trail for a passing armada of snowmobiles, we started our hike along the cliffs.

We got to the top and found the falls flowing fairly well, probably due to all the snow that had melted and poked around a bit. We then headed up to see the middle and upper falls which are much smaller. We then started our trip back, reached the Jeep and headed to Calumet for a trip to Burger King via Lake Linden and Laurium.

I’ll leave you with a picture of Rae and Whitney. You can find the rest of the pictures on flickr.

Spring Break Plans

So, I was talking about plans for Spring Break a couple days ago, and I now have plans to go to Washington D.C. over break for a vacation. I’m looking for a couple more people to go with us to fill up the car (and split gas) though.

Anyone interested?
